Terms of Use

This is a convenience translation. The German version (Nutzungsbedingungen) is legally binding.

  1. Service. Sawasdee is a language-learning app (vocabulary and listening trainer) for Android, iOS and Web. Level A1 of every offered target language with all exercise types, as well as account and synchronisation, can be used free of charge and without time limit. Levels A2–C1 of all target languages are part of “Premium” and are purchased, depending on the device, via Google Play or the App Store (Apple).
  2. Premium – purchase options. Premium is available as a monthly subscription, as a yearly subscription and, while offered, as a one-time purchase (“Lifetime”, with no term and no renewal). All prices, subscription periods and renewal conditions are shown before purchase in the purchase dialog of the respective store; the price stated there, including VAT, applies. The contracting party for the purchase is, depending on the store, Google (Google Commerce Ltd.) under the Google Play Terms of Service or Apple (Apple Distribution International or iTunes S.à r.l. & Cie) under the App Store Terms and Conditions.
  3. Subscriptions, renewal, cancellation. Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically for the respective term until they are cancelled. Cancellation can be made at any time in the subscription settings of the respective store – on Android/Web in Google Play (“Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions”), on iPhone under “Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions” – and takes effect at the end of the current term; until then, Premium remains usable. Cancellation within the app itself or by uninstalling is not possible.
  4. Free trial. The yearly subscription begins with a free trial of 14 days, provided the respective store (Google Play or App Store) offers it for your account (usually once per Google account or Apple ID). If the subscription is not cancelled via the respective store before the trial ends, it automatically converts into the paid yearly subscription at the price shown. If you cancel during the trial, Premium remains usable until the trial ends.
  5. Limited-time offer. The one-time purchase may be offered for a limited time and at a reduced introductory price. The end of this period is shown in the app. After it expires, the one-time purchase may be offered at a different price or no longer be offered; a purchase already made is not affected and Premium remains usable permanently.
  6. Restoring purchases. Premium is tied to the store account used for the purchase (Google account or Apple ID) and can be activated on other devices with the same account via “Restore purchases” in Settings.
  7. Withdrawal and refunds. For digital content purchased via Google Play or the App Store, the refund rules of the respective store apply; requests must be addressed to Google or Apple respectively. Your statutory right of withdrawal as a consumer remains unaffected; the respective store informs you in the purchase dialog when it lapses (start of use before the end of the withdrawal period).
  8. Account. An account is optional and serves solely to back up and synchronise learning progress. Sign-in is by one-time code via email, with a Google account or (on iPhone) with your Apple ID. You are responsible for keeping the one-time codes confidential and for securing access to your Google account or Apple ID. The account can be deleted in the app at any time.
  9. Content. Vocabulary, sentences, transliterations, translations and culture notes are created with the greatest care but may contain errors. You can point these out to us via “Report a problem”. No guarantee is given for completeness, accuracy or success in examinations. Recordings by native speakers come from openly licensed sources; the attribution can be found in the app under Settings → Sources & licences.
  10. Copyright. The app, its design and the learning content are protected by copyright. Use outside the app (reproduction, distribution or extraction of the data sets) is not permitted. You can export your own data (learning progress, word lists) at any time under Settings → My data.
  11. Liability. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under the Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz); for slight negligence only in the event of a breach of material contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.
  12. Changes. We may amend these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. Price changes for existing subscriptions are communicated via the respective store (Google Play or App Store) and only take effect after your consent or in accordance with the rules of the respective store.
  13. Governing law. German law applies; statutory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
